THE KABBALAH OF OUR KEHILLAH

I hereby accept upon myself not to speak during davening and krias haTorah.

הריני מקבל על עצמי שלא לדבר בשעת התפילה וקריאת התורה.

No guest walks in without being astonished at the sight: fifty or sixty mispallelim, simply davening. Not one word in the middle of tefillah.

אין אורח שנכנס ולא מתפלא מהמראה: 50-60 מתפללים, שפשוט מתפללים. אין דיבור אחד באמצע התפילה.

Even one who wishes to speak has no one to speak to.

וגם מי שרוצה לדבר, אין לו עם מי.

HOW IT BEGAN

מאין באנו

We had no makom.

לא היה לנו מקום.

We sat in the ezras noshim, or outside the shul. It pained us, but we did not give up.

ישבנו בעזרת הנשים, או מחוץ לבית הכנסת. כאב הלב, אך לא ויתרנו.

We came to a new neighborhood in Beitar Illit, young families, far from the established shuls. It began with a Daf Yomi shiur, and from it grew a minyan with a place for every Yid, founded on one clear kabbalah: no talking during davening, and above all during krias haTorah. We started in the home of one of the chaverim, and on Shabbos Zachor 5784 we had the zechus to enter our own shul for the first time.

באנו לגבעה חדשה בביתר עילית, משפחות צעירות, רחוק מבתי הכנסת המרכזיים. הכול התחיל בשיעור דף היומי, ומשם נולד מניין שיש בו מקום לכל יהודי, על יסוד קבלה אחת ברורה: אין מדברים בשעת התפילה, ובפרט בקריאת התורה. התחלנו בביתו של אחד החברים, ובשבת זכור תשפ״ד זכינו להיכנס לראשונה לבית הכנסת שלנו.

B'ezras Hashem, we will complete the writing together with the Chanukas Habayis, and bring the Sefer Torah into a glorious Beis Hashem.

בעזרת ה׳ נסיים את הכתיבה יחד עם חנוכת הבית, ונכניס את ספר התורה לבית ה׳ מפואר.

Our tefillah is that our children will grow up here, in a makom of Torah, tefillah and avodas Hashem.

תפילתנו שילדינו יגדלו כאן, במקום של תורה, תפילה ועבודת ה׳.
